Child Intervention

The alternative to Family Enhancement Services is to provide Child Protection Services in accordance to the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act. Initially before a family receives intervention services via Child Protection a concern (Intake) is received regarding a child (ren)/family and decision to further assess/investigate is determined by Supervisor consultation and reference to the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act. A YTSA Delegated Caseworker may complete this process.

Interventions that may be sought:

  • - Supervision Order
  • - Custody Agreement with Guardian
  • - Custody Agreement with Youth
  • - Temporary Guardian Order (TGO)
  • - Permanent Guardian Order (PGO)
  • - Private Guardian Order
  • - Brief Counselling
  • - Adoption Order

If a child (ren)/family is found to be in need of intervention in accordance to the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act; several interventions may be sought out by a YTSA delegated caseworker/YTSA Casework Supervisor. These interventions are stipulated in the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.The delegated caseworker and the family determine the best way to serve the child deemed to be in need of intervention with appropriate planning/goal setting while maintaining cultural identity and connections.
